More than a half million seniors age 60 and over are living in our service area, 20% are over the age of 80 and more than 25% of them are living alone.
Nearly 90,000 local seniors are living in poverty.
Nearly 1/3 of local seniors have at least one disability, such as Alzheimer’s Disease, hearing loss or impaired vision.
Senior Connection Center is Always Here to Help
In 2016, more than 70,000 calls came into our Aging & Disability Resource Center through the Elder Helpline.
Senior Connection Center funded 964,367 meals for hungry seniors, along with more than 100,000 hours of homemaker services and 74,955 trips to doctor visits, meal sites and other important appointments for needy seniors.
Our SHINE counselors made more than 25,000 contacts providing Medicare information and counseling services to seniors.
