Senior Connection Center Wins Award
TAMPA, Florida – June 11, 2015 – Tampa Bay Business Journal has named Senior Connection Center the 2015 Non Profit of the Year in the Health and Human Services category (over $10m). The awards ceremony announcing the winners was held at the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa. More than 250 nonprofit companies were nominated for awards in eight categories.
“It is both exciting and rewarding to be recognized by the Tampa Bay Business Journal,” says Charlotte McHenry, President and CEO of Senior Connection Center. “Our staff members and volunteers are so dedicated to improving the lives of local seniors, disabled adult and their caregivers, but our efforts can go unnoticed in today’s busy world. We hope this award helps to heighten awareness about the critical work we do so we can reach even more people in need.”
“Many seniors and disabled adults have worked hard all their lives and made significant contributions to our society. Now, for reasons including advancing age and declining health, they are in need of our help,” continues McHenry. “We also help their caregivers, who have put their own lives on hold to support their aging loved ones, often at the expense of their own health. Senior Connection Center is the life-line for these people, connecting them with the resources they need to maintain the best possible quality of life. We consider it an honor to devote ourselves to improving their lives.”
