TAMPA, FL – The Tampa Bay Business Journal named Charlotte McHenry, Senior Connection Center’s President & CEO, as one of their BusinessWoman of the Year Honorees for 2018. Honorees were recognized at a black tie gala event on August 17 at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina.
The Tampa Bay Business Journal has been presenting this award for years as its way of recognizing and celebrating the achievements of outstanding business women throughout the Tampa Bay area. This year’s honorees were chosen from more than 300 nominations. Anyone who has followed this program since its inception will notice, this year, there are just 28 honorees, a significantly lower number than in years past. That means that the bar was raised in terms of the achievements and accomplishments of the 2018 honorees.
Among McHenry’s initiatives that led to her receiving this recognition is her Emerging Leader program within Senior Connection Center. When asked why she initiated the new program, McHenry stated “I wanted to find a way to nurture and prepare those staff members who are interested in personal and professional growth.” She added, “Helping these young professionals achieve their career goals is as rewarding for me as it is beneficial them. Whether they continue to advance within our organization or pursue opportunities elsewhere, my hope is they will be better prepared to be successful in their careers.”
